Sunday in the Park
Jul. 1st, 2012 05:37 pmWe had a break in the rain today, so Albia and I went for a picnic in the park. We spread our blanket on the grass to keep from getting damp, and we enjoyed the sunshine while it lasted.
The mudblood carried the hamper and Bea's things--it's nice to have a bit of domestic help, actually. She's getting to be quite good at watching Bea, though we're still being cautious about that.
There was a quartet playing in the bandstand. Bea thought it was wonderful fun to 'dance', by which I mean, she'd stomp and turn and clap until she'd fall over. And then she'd laugh and get up to dance some more. The players let her come up and see their instruments, which was very kind of them. I think she especially liked the witch playing the clarinet. She wanted to touch all the shiny little keys and stops on it. And she shrieked (in a good way) when the witch made it toot and hoot while Bea held her hand underneath the opening at the bottom.
But then a family of ducks marched past us, and Bea forgot all about music! We followed the ducks to the water, and stood on the little footbridge, throwing our bread crusts for them to chase until we ran out. Next time we'll know to bring some specially for the ducks!
Now we're home and enjoying the quiet of Sunday evening. Junius is reading the paper, I've cleared the supper things, and now it's time for Miss Bea to have a story and a goodnight snuggle.
